2.91….BILLION! Yep, that’s how many people have watched Wiz Khalifa - See You again ft. Charlie Puth official video on YouTube. To put that number into perspective, that’s more than the population of India and China combined. And it took the song just a little over 2 years to reach that number. The previous record holder, Psy’s Gangnam Style is now at the second spot with 2.8 billion views.
But why? Why this song? The answer is Paul Walker. The actor who, along with Vin Diesel, gave us the best car racing movie franchise of all times. Sure now the Fast and Furious franchise has even bigger stars like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, but it was Paul Walker and Vin Diesel who started it all.
After his death in 2013, the Fast and Furious franchise changed...forever. It was never the same again. It has more action and special effects now, yes, but it lacks the brotherhood that Diesel and Paul had. They were a family and because of those two, the whole family theme in the F&F movies made sense. After his death, the franchise was left with a huge hole which no special effects and cars have been able to fill till now.
And that’s the whole reason for See you again to be the most watched YouTube video of all time. It’s a tribute to Walker. The audio in itself is great but the video has all the scenes of Paul Walker from the first ‘The Fast and The Furious’ series to the last, when Vin Diesel and Paul Walker part ways. Just thinking about that make me wanna cry. Anyways I am happy that this is the most watched YouTube video of all times
Let’s watch the video one more time, for old times’ sake.
Thanks Paul Walker, you’ll always have a special place in our hearts.
