Brace Yourselves movie enthus! Here are sports 6 biopics that you're likely to watch in 2017/18

There are tonns of movies that are ready to release this year but some of them are extra special and we totally can't wait to watch them in theaters. Sports biopics are one of them. Out of all sports biopics released so far, we have loved almost all of a lot and you can't deny that you did too. Movies like Dangal, Mary Kom and M.S Dhoni- The Untold Story introduced us to the lives of our beloved sportsmen and women. Since the numbers of these sports biopics are countable on fingers, we sure would love to watch more in future and that is going to happen soon. 

Yes! We are likely to watch some sports biopics this year,  curious to know about who and when? Well, here's the entire information-


1. Mariyappan

The film is based on Mariyappan, a 21-year-old high jumper from the Salem district of Tamil Nadu who won gold for India in high jump in the T-42 category at Paralympic games 2016 held in Rio de Janeiro. The movie will be directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter and filmmaker Aishwarya Rajinikanth Dhanush in Tamil.

2. Gold 

The movie will release on 15 August 2018. It's based on the life of hockey player Balbir Singh who will be played by none other than Akshay Kumar. Balbir Singh was the vice captain of Indian hockey team in 1952 and the team also won three successive gold medals in the Olympics. Without any doubts, Akshay is choosing the best day to release the movie in theaters.

3. Untitled biopic on Pullela Gopichand

Pullela Gopichand is a chief badminton coach and has guided Saina Nehwal. The movie will be directed by filmmaker Praveen Sattaru and Telugu actor Sudheer Babu will play the role of Pullela. The movie is set to release this year only.

4. Untitled biopic on Dhyan chand

Major Dhyan chand is one of the legendary hockey players in the world. He rose to fame while British Raj in India. The shooting has not started yet but the rumor has it, either Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor or Varun Dhawan are considered to play the lead role. The movie will be produced by Pooja Shetty and Aarti Shetty.

5. Untitled biopic on Murlikant Petkar

Murlikant Petkar is a physically disabled army man-turned-sportsman who won a gold medal in Adaptive Sports at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 and Paralympics in Germany in 1972. He has set world record in 50m freestyle swimming. The lead role will be played by Sushant Singh Rajput who also played the role of M.S Dhoni in the movie M.S Dhoni- An Untold Story. 

The Asian Age quoted Sushant as saying: "The minute I heard his story, I was on. I wanted to do it without a second thought. What an inspiring story! After playing Dhoni, I’m looking forward to playing Petkar, who never allowed his physical hurdles to stand in the way of his dreams. I like playing characters who dream big.”

6. Sachin: A billion dreams

And last but not the least. Let's just say we have more than enough reasons to watch this one and most of all is Sachin Tendulkar himself. The movie is based on Sachin's life and his journey of becoming the god of cricket and he himself is starring in it along with his son Arjun Tendulkar . It's directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and is slated to release on 14th April.
