Director: Edward Zwick
Running Time: 1 Hour 59 Minutes
Lately, following the trend of presenting bad sequels had me thinking why are we getting trapped in these poorly scripted obvious attempts to suck onto what is left of great releases. I have always blamed these greedy studios for killing great movies by making their sequels. Please, take this fact into consideration that some movies are great as stand alone movies but might not so good when converted in a franchise. Anyway, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is not one of these attempts in my eye. Well since Tom Cruise was involved, perfection was expected and was delivered.
Now since he is appearing as Jack Reacher for the second time, there were high chances where he might have overplayed it but throughout the movie, there was not one scene where I had felt that. Being sequel to Jack Reacher (2012), which was an adaption from Lee Child’s One Shot, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is a story taking place few years ahead of the first part and is roughly adapted from Lee Child’s Never Go Back. Lee Child staying away from the fad of authors being directly involved in the screenplay of the movies was nowhere acknowledged apart from adaption appreciation, nevertheless Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is a fabulous attempt to bring words to life and if simply put a spectacular movie to watch and Tom Cruise is a badass as always.
Whilst Tom Cruise was incredible, his supporting cast was nothing less of being wondrous. Cobie Smulders was great as the other lead to Tom Cruise. Danika Yarosh as the girl in danger was pretty convincing and also as a companion to the two leads. Patrick Heusinger as the guy trying to finish the job was just top notch in the role of antagonist. The screenplay was well written and worked upon and was in no way short of the first part. Edward M. Zwick being had done a great job in placing the structure of the book on the screen. Music also shows great compatibility to the screenplay.
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is a story about attempts made by a company in order to hide their path as they had been selling arms illegally to American Army Insurgents. Cobie Smulders get coiled up as everyone tries to pin her down under the name of espionage. Jack Reacher tries to save her from being executed.
In my opinion, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is a great movie and I am expecting more parts coming in the franchise.
